I started my software development journey in 2004 (about 20 years ago). At that point in time the only options were either studying computer networking and becoming an expert in networks or pursuing software development and develop desktop or web applications. The options were relatively limited, it was also hard to make a decision. Everyone had a different opinion about what is good, what has a future, etc. in this space.
